Group A:

The Canadian Formula 3 Championship is designed to provide the highest possible platform in North America for the next generation of motor-racing chargers to excel into Formula 1.

The worldwide recognition of the Formula 3 brand and its position as the key developer of driving talent for Formula 1 adds instant international credibility to the Canadian Motorsports Arena.

(In 2009 19 of the 22 current drivers in Formula 1 had raced in Formula 3)

Group B:

A secondary class comprised of ‘Gentlemen Racers’ filling out the field to produce healthy consistent grids, ensuring that each Canadian Formula 3 event will have a sufficient amount of participation to yield the best show possible for race fans, sponsors and media concerns.

Group B will compete in the same overall championship points standings, yet their same points scoring tally will also be applied to a separate points race for ‘The Best Gentlemen Racer of the Year Award’.
